A bright picture of socio-economic situation

The Provincial People's Committee of Dak Nong has recently issued the report revealing the estimated results of fulfilling the targets set in its 2017 Socio-economic Development Plan (hereafter "the Plan" ). It come as a good news that most of the targets were estimated to be reached or surpassed in comparison with the Plan. Such outcome has obviously reflected the determination, and the flexibility of the Province's authority in directing and managing its socio-economic development.

Bright signs of the economy

According to the Resolution issued by the Provincial People's Council, the whole province was supposed to strive for the fulfilment of 16 socio-economic target groups. In assessing the achievement up to now, the Provincial People's Committee is  expecting that there will be 12 out of 16 target groups to be fulfilled or surpassed at the emd of year, which accounts for 75% of the plan;  2 of the 16 target groups to be reached or nearly reached, which accounts for 12.5% of the plan. 

Specificially, according to the report, the growth of GRDP has reached 9.33%, which was 1.83% higher compared to the set target. Of which, agriculture sector yielded fruitful results, with the attained value estimated at VND7,822 billion, up 5.69% over the last year of 2016. The growth in the value of agricultre sector owed a lot to the increase in the output of coffee, peppercorn, rubber, rice, and the increased number of cows and goats.

Sectors of industry and construction remained their growing momentum with the attained value  estimated at 2,801 billion, up 26.23% over 2016. The production of industry sector was stable, in which, the total output of goods being comparatively high in relation to last year's output. The outputs of some products such as alumina, refined alcohol, merchandised electricity, productive electricity, and rubber increase sharply due to the rise in the market demand for such products.

The situtation of supply and demand as well as price in the province had been stable, without occurrence of scarcity or sudden increase of price. Total revenue of retail sale goods and service were estimated at VND12,975 billion, up 8% compared to 2016. Transportation continued to be developed, meeting the people's commuting demand and the transit of goods.

Economic structure had also undergone  positive movements, in which, the proportion of agriculture was brought down while that of industry and service  was up,  which were in line  with the oriented trend. As expected, the agriculture sector makes up 49.18% of the whole economic structure;  industry – construction  15.14%; service sector 30.21%; tax 5.47%.

The advancements in the economy situation have paved  theways for an increase in the State budget collected.  The Whole province was expecting to collect VND1,800 billion, which accounts for 10% of the Plan.

Besides, the goals set for the fields of traffic infrastructure, urban water supply infrastructure, electricity supply infrastructure were also reached or surpassed as compared with the Plan.

Increase in people's living standard

In 2017, the authority had attached greater importance to providing support for people to carry out their productive activities,which remarkably contributed to raising living quality of people in both terms of material and spirit. Income per capita reached VND41.2 million, up VND2.31 million compared to the Plan. The province had also promptly provided supports for households having got struck by the drought and flood. The whole province had created more jobs for 18,000 people, given vocational training for 4,385 people. Levels of authority and agencies had also efficiently fulfilled the task of giving loans to people for solving employment issues. 

Regarding the sector of education and training, comprehensive advancements could possibly be seen as the infrastructures of the institutions continued to be invested in, quality was improved, and the scale of the field was broadened. The targets of education and training sector was comparatively reached; the high school graduation examination took place amid tight security and seriousness, of which the rate of graduation was over 97%. Of this year, another 8 schools in the province had come to receive the recognition of educational institution meeting the national standards.l

Public health care sector had been uphold and had its service increasingly enhanced in term of quality, which basically met local people's demand. The Health sector had been continuously striving hard for the fulfillment of its function of giving efective and efficient health care to the people. The Health services were supplemented with a lot of cutting-edge technology, meeting people's demand to a greater extent. Examination, treatment and prevention of disease outbreak were all intensified. The whole province was expecting to have 61.9% of its communes meeting national standards for Health care (compared to 38% as set by Plan); Percentage of people with Health insurance coverage was over 85%, accounting for 100% of the Plan.

It can be said that the results expected to be achieved in 2017 plays as a foundation for the province to set out the realistic and feasible targets in 2018. This is also a huge driving force for the province to continue advancing its socio-economic development, raising up the living standard of local people in the coming years of the tenure 2015 - 2020.
