Potential for agro-forestry and fishery development

Total natural area covers 6515.62 square km, Dak Nong covers 238.90 hectares of cultivating land, of which 110.799 hectares land served for annually crops and 128.109 hectares land for perennial crops, 302 hectares of grass land; 1,158 hectares of water surface land for agriculture.

The advantages from fertilized land among the upland, midland, hill and plain make Dak Nong develop diversity of short- long term industrial and agricultural crops; poultry and livestock raising. This is not only resource for agricultural development but also material for forestry processing industries including wood, tea, coffee, pepper or starch factories, etc.

According to policy for agricultural development in the period 2010 – 2020 by Dak Nong People's Committee, in the next 5 years, Dak Nong is going to focus on developing clean agriculture and high quality agricultural products. At the present, Province issued the Resolution No.12/2010/NQ-HDND dated on 14 July 2010 on 9 preferential fields for investment and 3 projects in the preferential policy for agriculture.

Short-day industrial crops, food crops growing and poultry, livestock farming are strongly developed in Krong No and Cu Jut districts.

The industrial perennial crops, forestry growing and livestock farming are also developed in Dak Mil, Dak Song districts and GiaNghiaTown.

The industrial forest trees and mineral mines are mainly presented in Dak R'Lap and Tuy Duc districts.

Dak Nong covers now 293.86 hectares of forest, in which: 281,940 hectares of natural forest, 11.924 hectares of planted forest with many pieces of wood and precious animals, wood production in 2009: 30,721 cubic meter.

Being a province in highlands, Dak Nong has conditions to develop aquaculture with 923 hectares of water surface area, types of fishery products mainly cultivated and exploited are freshwater fish and shrimp. Additionally, it is used up annually water surface area to cultivate from new damp established by hydro-power works.

When coming to Dak Nong, the investors have many opportunities to build special region in stable agro-forestry, livestock farming, especially machinery business, application for biology and science technology into agricultural production.
