On 20 June 2018, Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee held a conference to asses socio - economic public security and national defense performance in the first half of 2018 and set up the plan for July and the second half of 2018.Deputy Secretary of Provincial Communist Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Bon chaired the conference. Heads and Leaders of Deparments, agencies and districts were in attendance.

As assessed by the Provincial People's Committee, the results reflecting socio-economic, national defense performance of the province over the first half of 2017 are positive. 7 out of the 16 groups of socio-economic development targets (accounting for 44%) assigned by the Provincial's People's Council are performed to a satisfactory level, which is very likely to reach or exceed the planned target.
The Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of the province is estimated at VND7,002 billion, accounting for 42% of the Plan with economic growth rate estimated at 9.28%. Accordingly, the growth rate of each sector is as follows: Agriculture sector up 5.57%, industry and construction up 12.98% (industry singularly up 17.1%); service up 8.97% and collected tax up 19.11%. IIP (index of industry production) is estimated to be up 10.29% against last year's period.For the Winter-Spring crop season, the whole province has cultivated 10,123 ha over the Plan of 9.625 ha, exceeding 498 ha over the plan and up 268 ha over last year's same period. The cultivation for the Summer and Fall crop season has been implemented over 61% of the Plan. The breeding as well as raising of livestock and poultry remains stable with an increase in the the number of heads compared to same period of 2017. The price of husbandry products is stable and sometimes quite high, which has been a motivation for breeders to keep developing this sector. The situation of deforestation an violation of Law on forest protection was kept under control and the number of violation cases is cut down. During the first 6 months of this year, the number of deforstation cases is counted as 271 case, causing a damage of 97 ha of forest.
State budget collection reaches VND 1,231 billion, accounting for 67% of the estimate asigned by the Central Government and 62% by the Provincial's Peple's Council, up 41% against last year's same period.

At the conference, the heads and leaders of departments, agencies and districts also focused on discussing the issues remaining a lot of difficulties and find ways to resolve in the coming time. Among such issues are the protection and management of forests, the compensation for peole during land acquisition, the encroachment of land in Industrial park, difficulties in implementing the projects on setling the life for immigrant population.
