The Tuy Duc District Farmers' Association (Dak Nong province) has cooperated with Orion Vina Food Co., Ltd. to introduce Korean DooBak potatoes to cultivate exprimental in Tuy Duc. Korean DooBak potatoes are now well developed, giving large, uniform size tubers, promising to become a new crop for farmers.

At the end of 2019, according to the Tuy Duc District Farmers' Association, which is the unit cooperated with Orion Vina Food Co., Ltd., a reputable leading company in the field of agricultural development and food processing...in order to support Tuy Duc district in developing agriculture. After signing the MOU, between the parties have deployed pilot 9.6 hectares of Korean DooBak potatoes in 16 households living in the communes of Dak Buk So and Quang Tam.

Orion Vina Food Co., Ltd has assisted the local people by providing seeds and production techniques. Not only that, in the process of developing this new crop, Orion Vina Food Co., Ltd. also sent technical staff to follow the field to monitor and support farmers how to develop potato trees properly.

By this time, the potato plant has grown over 2 months. Recently, the Farmer Association cooperated with Tuy Duc Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to conduct potato field inspection. Through tests showed that DooBak potato plants grow quite well, suitable for the climate and soil in the locality. Currently, potato plants have tubers, on average 4-6 tubers per pineapple ... The specialized agency also found fungus late blight (Phytophthora infestans) on the experimental potato area. However, this is a common disease in potato plants, so there is a treatment and prevention regimen.

Through inspection, Tuy Duc district specialized agency assessed that locally grown potatoes produce high yield, large and uniform size tubers.

Mr. Ngo Quang Trung, a resident in Quang Tam commune, said: Potatoes which are grown in locally give big and uniform size tubers. The monitoring employees of Orion Vina Food Co., Ltd., is also appreciate the development of potato plants in Tuy Duc compared to other localities. Hopefully, in the coming time, after an overview, Orion Vina Food Co., Ltd will cooperate with local people to develop long-term and sustainable potato plants.

Talking about this issue, Mr. Tran Viet Cu, Vice Chairman of Tuy Duc District People's Committee, said that over the past time, the prices of many key local development traditions agricultural products had been continuously low. On the local leadership, there are many concerns to find new crop varieties that are both suitable for the climate, and have a stable price and output for farmers. Potato planting model is one of the new directions that local is piloting with the desire to give people more options for economic development.

According to Mr. Cu, after implementing the model, the District People's Committee has proposed the District Farmers Association to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to regularly monitor and evaluate the potential of DooBak potato plant development. If this crop is productive and suitable for the climate and soil sub-region of Tuy Duc district, it is urgently associated closely with Orion Vina Food Co., Ltd. to help people transform and diversify structure planting, developing economic effectively.
