The Dak Nong PPC works with the mission of United Nations Development Program in Vietnam (UNDP)

On the afternoon October 5, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Truong Thanh Tung had a working session with the Mission of the United Nations Development Program in Vietnam (UNDP) headed of delegation by Ms. Sitara Syed – Deputy Resident Representative in Viet Nam to discuss opportunities for cooperation between Dak Nong provinces and UNDP in implementing projects in the fields of forest management, development and agricultural production in the province.

Two projects funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) through UNDP include: Project of Strengthening the resilience of smallholder agriculture to climate change-induced water insecurity in the Central Highlands and South-Central Coast regions of Vietnam. This is a project that serves the objective of climate resilience and enhancing access to information for practical, applied and marketable agricultural development. Implementation period of 6 years, will be implemented in 3 districts Cu Jut, Dak Mil and Krong No of Dak Nong province with a total investment of 783.71 billion VND.

The Integrated Sustainable Landscape Management Through Deforestation-Free Jurisdiction Project aims to improve the environmental sustainability and social inclusion and resilience of food production models and supply chains in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam, with a total capital of 126.83 billion VND.

At the meeting, Ms. Sitara Syed – UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Vietnam wished the province to actively implement related project procedures, from UNDP side, Ms. Sitara Syed said that she would be available ready to support the province in the implementation process.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of PPC Truong Thanh Tung thanked UNDP Program for choosing to invest in Dak Nong province, these projects have very important implications for the province's socio-economic development. The Provincial People's Committee assigns the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to act as the point of contact and lead the implementation of the project in the province. On the provincial side, in the coming time, it will direct departments, branches and localities to actively implement the procedures related to the project to ensure the set progress.
