VGP - Viet Nam strongly opposes the establishment of the so-called "Sansha city" and related acts carried out by China as they seriously violate Viet Nam's sovereignty, said the Viet Nam's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu hang.
Hang made the statement on April 19 in response to China's announcement on the establishment of the so-called "Xisha district" (Viet Nam's Hoang Sa archipelago), and "Nansha district" (Viet Nam's Truong Sa archipelago) under "Sansha city".
The Spokesperson reiterated that Viet Nam has ample historical evidence and legal basis to affirm its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands.
The aforesaid acts taken by China are invalid and not recognized, seriously violating Viet Nam's sovereignty.
These acts are not conducive to the development of the friendly relations between the two countries and further complicate the situation in the East Sea, the region and the world.
"Viet Nam demands that China respect Viet Nam sovereignty, put an end to its wrongful decisions and not repeat similar activities in the future," Hang stressed./.
