From 12 to 14 March 2018, the Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Bon joined the delegation headed by the Prime Minister (PM) of Viet Nam Nguyen Xuan Phuc on his Head of State visit to New Zealand.

On 13 March (according to regional time) PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his delegation visited the Plant & Food Research's Mt Albert Research Centre of New Zealand, which is considered the modernest in the country as well as the whole region, specially well-known for the cultivars, the advanced technologies of fishing, agricultural produce preservation and processing.

Here, the PM highly spoke of the cooperation between the Plant & Food Research of New Zealand and Viet Nam, especially on the project that helped boost up the productivity and quality of Viet Nam's dragon fruits to meet the requirements for export into New Zealand, the market with the world's most stringent standards for imported agricultural produce.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his hope that the Plant & Food Research would continue cooperating with and supporting Viet Nam in raising the capability of its agriculture sector, especially in terms of  developing organic, smart and high-tech applied agriculture.

During the visit, the PM witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Provincial Peoples Committee of Dak Nong province, the New Zealand Government (through G2G Partnerships), Vietnamese company SAM Agritech and Plant & Food Research to investigate ways to support the development of the avocado industry in Dak Nong.
