On 30th June 2017,  the Provincial People's Committee of Daknong  held a meeting to evaluate socio-economic performance in the first half and set up tasks for the second half of 2017. The meeting was co-chaired by all the Vice Chairpersons of the Provincial People's Committee, including Mr. Tran Xuan Hai, Mr. Cao Huy, Mr. Truong Thanh Tung, Mrs. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh.

Overview of the meeting

As reported, the socio-economic situation of the province in the first half was advantageous and stable, with the satisfactory performance of basic socio-economic  targets. The GRDP was estimated at VND 5,491 billion, accounting for 31% of the plan; growth rate estimated as 8.22%, showing an increase of 6.09% compared to the same period last year.

Index of  industrial production increased sharply, accounting for 137% of  the  same period last year. Total retail sales and service turnover was estimated at VND6,017 billion, up 7.83% year-on-year  and accounting for 46% of plan. State budget revenue was estimated at VND860.8 billion, accounting for 57% of the estimate set by the Central government,  and 52% of the estimate set by the Provincial People's Council, meaning an increase of 22% year-on-year.

The rate of asphalted roads reached 130% of the plan, surpassing the plan. For the Winter-Spring crop period, the whole province had cultivated 9,855 ha over 9,500 ha of the plan, surpassing 355 ha, and increase 193 ha compared to same period last year. Unemployment was brought down  at 50% of the plan; vocational training was performed at 52% of the plan. The number of schools meeting national standards was 63% of the plan. Cultural and social sphere continued to be paid great attention; education-training, public health and medical care were raised in terms of quality; national defense and security remained stable.

However, there were still a number of targets performed at  unsatisfactory or low levels such as: poverty reduction, new rural area construction, forest coverage and protection.In the Quarter 3 of 2017, in order to reach the targets, the Provincial People's Committee required Department, units, agencies, and the district level People's Committees take the initiative to handle and disentangle difficulty right from the base, at the same time, put forward the dynamic, creative and flexible measures such as: continue carrying out and ensure the progress of action plans, the plan to implement the Resolution of the 12th National congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Resolution of 11th Provincial Party congress, the Provincial People's Council ‘s Resolution on socio-economic development strategies for the 5-year period from 2016 to 2020; intensify implementing the socio-economic development targets in 2017; intensify and mobilize the sources of the budget collection; keep strict control on the expenditure; intensify management on investment and basic construction; enhance the efficiency of State government, improve business environment, create favorable condition for businesses; develop trade, service and tourism market; boost up production and business over all the fields; apply strict penalty on the act of causing destruction to forests and encroachment of forest land; continue carrying out the policies on public welfare and security, intensify poverty reduction, expand cooperation and connection with business in vocational in training and creating jobs for labourers.
