Viet Nam reports no new COVID-19 case in 4th consecutive day

VGP - No new case of COVID-19 was reported in Viet Nam as of 6 am on April 20, making it the 4th consecutive day the nation has gone without any new infection, according to the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

This means the patient tally remains unchanged at 268, including 160 imported cases.

So far, 203 patients have been treated successfully. Among current 65 active cases, 13 have been tested negative for the virus for the first time and seven others for second time. 

As many as 62,998 people have been under quarantine in Viet Nam, including 279 at hospitals, 11,338 at centralized camps and 51,381 at places of residence.  

Despite encouraging signals from containment and treatment, the Vietnamese Government still stay vigilant and focused on the COVID-19 fight as the pandemic is still evolving complicatedly across the globe.

On April 16, the Government announced that it would not ease entry restrictions until April 30 and tasked  the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense and Ministry of Public Security to continue tightening entry control.

The Government shall continue to temporarily halt visa issuance to all foreigners, except for those who are entrants for diplomatic or official purposes, experts, highly skilled workers, international investors.

On April 15, the Government decided to extend social distancing by at least one week in 28 localities, including Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City./.
